Man takes a nap on T tracks, delays train

Time for a wake up call.

Hundred of MBTA passengers endured a 30-minute delay during rush hour Wednesday while MBTA
officials removed a man who was allegedly seeping on the train tracks
between the Back Bay Commuter Rail Station and South Station, according
to transit police.

Officials suspended service for both southbound and northbound trains at
4:25 p.m. yesterday while they searched the area for a man who was
reported to be laying on the tracks.

Edward Leahy, 53, of Boston, was arrested and charged with trespassing, police said.

“Leahy did not offer an explanation as to why he (chose) such a dangerous area to sleep,” transit police said in a statement.

He also denied wanting to “hurt himself,” police said.

“Unfortunately hundreds of MBTA commuters as well as Amtrak passengers
were delayed for about a half hour during rush hour while transit police
searched the area,” police said in the statement.”The location were
Leahy was trespassing is clearly marked with ‘No Trespassing’ and
‘Danger High Voltage’ signage.”
