A man thought lost and barefoot in the woods was found safe and sound in a Sackville residence yesterday.
John Edward Cawthron, 22 called a friend at 6:30 a.m. saying he was lost in the woods in his bare feet and couldn’t find his way out. The friend was still worried by 10:40 a.m. and called police.
Halifax Regional Police, HRM Ground Search and Rescue and an RCMP helicopter spent much of the day searching in the wooded area of Mount Hope Avenue, Portland Estates and the Shearwater airbase.
“He was in the woods, no shoes on, very cold and probably disoriented,” said Const. Jeff Carr.
Cawthron was found yesterday afternoon, but not in the woods. He was found in a house in Sackville and the search was shut down.
