Man washing window falls to death from Upper East Side home

A 57-year-old man is dead after falling three stories from an Upper East Side building Monday morning, reports said.

The man was washing a window at a townhouse on East 81st Street near Lexington Avenue at about 11:45 a.m. when he the incident happened, the New York Daily News reported.

“When I first saw it I did a double take. I had to look twice to make sure what I was seeing was real,” Teddy Giannis, told the Daily News.

According to NBC4, the man’s identity has yet to be released.

It wasn’t immediately clear how he fell or whether he was a resident or worker.

The fatal window washing incident was the second serious fall from a building Monday.

ABC7 reported that a 7-year-old autistic girl climbed out of the fourth-story window of her Bronx apartment, tumbling from the fire escape.

That fall took place on Andrews Avenue in University Heights just after 2 a.m., ABC7 added.

Despite landing on “hard pavement,” according to the news station, the girl survived, and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police are not certain whether she fell from the window or climbed down the fire escape before falling.
