Manhattan bust brings in ‘large quantity of hallucinogenic mushrooms’

Two men are facing drug charges after authorities caught them with a load of hallucinogenic mushrooms inside their car.

An undercover officer, working for Narcotics Boro Manhattan North, first set up a buy on Feb. 17 with 46-year-old Dimitri Taranov, court records said. MeetingTaranovin the Harlem area,the cop was sold a quarter pound of mushrooms.

The two then met on Feb. 23, and the cop bought another quarter pound of mushrooms.

A search warrant executed by authorities on Feb. 29turned up a “large quantity” of hallucinogenic mushrooms inside two plastic bags in the trunk of Taranov’s car, which he was driving at the time, court records said. More bags were also found in the backseat in plain view.

Taranov was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance. Yurity Smirnov, 53 was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was caught in the front passenger seat at the time of the search.
