Mansfield police to Jimmy Buffett concert goers: Don’t bring your own toilets

Though Jimmy Buffett fans may be “wasting away in Margaritaville,” the Mansfield Police are advising them not to dispose of their bodily waste in what they’re calling “tent toilets.”

Mansfield Police posted to their Facebook page Monday calling out to all Parrotheads ahead of the Buffett and the Coral Reefers concert at Mansfield’s Xfinity Center August 20.

Officers wanted to get the word out early, they wrote, that the “tent toilets” that have appeared in the parking lot while Parrotheads have tailgated past showed won’t be permitted or tolerated this year.

“We know, we know…no one likes to poo in a Porta-Loo, but think of it as an experience to build character,” the Facebook post said.

Live Nation has supplied the Xfinity Center parking lot with “an abundance of actual, health-code-compliant toilets that aren’t attached to the bumper of a pickup truck,” according to the post.

Officers aren’t dissuading concert-goers from hanging out before the show begins. They acknowledged that the annual Buffett concert is “filled with bright colors, inflatables, great food, sand…and since parking lots open at 11 a.m., the fans have a full day in the sun before the show.”

The post also included a visual aid of what the department deems as unacceptable “toilets”—mostly buckets with toilet lids sitting on top.
