With what is sure to be an emotional anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings coming up in just a few weeks, one of the many survivors of the blasts recently shared some exciting and uplifting news.

Jeff Bauman, who was catapulted into the spotlight by an infamous picture of him being rushed away from the blast site with his legs severely injured, announced on Sunday that he and his fiancee are expecting a child.

“We are so happy to share with you exciting news that has happened over the last few months … Jeff and Erin became engaged and are expecting their first child in the summer!!! Congratulations Jeff and Erin,” a post on Bauman’s official Facebook page said.

Bauman was standing near the finish line waiting for his girlfriend to complete the race when the bombs went off. He lost both legs in the attack. Since then, Bauman has announced a book dealand began work on a memoir that will detail his life since the bombings. Also, earlier this year he was a guest during President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
