Marco Rubio says he could’ve been president if he’d watched ‘Game of Thrones’

Marco Rubio Game of Thrones

Former presidential candidate Marco Rubio has decided what would have scored him the Republican presidential nomination over the unstoppable Donald Trump: Straight-up sorcery. Possibly dragons.

“If I’d have watched [Game of Thrones] two years ago, I would’ve been president,” said Rubio Tuesday, according to Haley Byrd of the Independent Journal Review. “It’s got a lot of good strategies.”

Byrd then realized that Rubio’s remarks — at the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute’s annual trade symposium at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. — could be taken as serious political analysis, because of the times in which we’re living.

“also hate that I have to do this disclaimer for Earnest Twitter® but this was very clearly a joke he was making,” she noted.

“thanks I thought he was being 100% serious about murdering people for political gain,” tweeted back David Wright of CNN.

“He should have watched the episode where Daenerys accuses Tywin Lannister of murdering JFK,” replied @mattlopez3.

Does that make Trump Littlefinger? During the Republican presidential primary, Rubio was one of the few candidates who got right down in the mud with Trump, with now-predictable results. After Trump mocked him as “Little Marco,” Rubio questioned the size of Trump’s hands at a rally in February 2016. “He’s always calling me Little Marco,” Rubio said. “And I’ll admit he’s taller than me. He’s like 6-2, which is why I don’t understand why his hands are the size of someone who is 5-2. Have you seen his hands? They’re like this. And you know what they say about men with small hands? You can’t trust them.”

Trump felt the need to respond to the innuendo in the next presidential debate: “Look at those hands, are they small hands?” he said. “And, he referred to my hands — ‘if they’re small, something else must be small.’ I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee.”

By that point, Rubio had apologized to Trump. America is still waiting for Trump’s apology for his response.
