FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Some good news, some bad for the New York Jets, whose talented but thin group of cornerbacks remain in flux ahead of their travels to take on the New England Patriots this Sunday.

The bad news: Buster Skrine, the talented and pesky cornerback, did not practice on Wednesday following a concussion he suffered in Sunday’s win over the Washington Redskins. But the good news comes in the form of cornerback Marcus Williams, who was limited after a hamstring injury caused him to miss Sunday’s game.

And with the Jets needing a cornerback to possibly replace Skrine, the return of Williams is good news.

“It felt better than it did yesterday,” Williams told Metro on Wednesday.

“That’s the main goal. Just trying to keep getting better day-to-day.”

Williams did individual drills, backpedaling and some running as well as a few plays in team drills. He called hamstrings “tricky.”

“I hope I can play. Hopefully I’m 100 percent, I’m not going to hurt the team if I’m not,” Williams said.

JETS NOTES

– Running back Bilal Powell did not practice on Wednesday repeatedly telling Metro that his status was day-to-day. But a glimmer of hope emerged when Powell stated that “Like I said it’s day-to-day. Looking forward to playing on Sunday.” Powell suffered an ankle injury in the win over the Redskins.

– Safety Jaiquawn Jarrett was also out on Wednesday as he continues to suffer from a knee injury.

– Wide receiver Chris Owusu, the aforementioned Williams and guard Willie Colon were all listed by head coach Todd Bowles as limited.
