A Massachusetts lawyer who also served as a Boy Scout leader and teacherwassentenced Monday afternoon to more than 18 years in prison for trying to entice children for sex and for possession of child pornography.
The Worcester Telegram reports that after being arrested in April 2012, Andrew Myers of Northbridge initially pleaded not guilty. But as of June, he withdrew his not guilty plea and chose to accept a guilty plea on five counts.
One mother, whose 11-year-old son was reportedly targeted by Myers, read a statement aloud in court that revealed her feelings toward her potential abuser.
“You are a sick bastard. I trusted you as a teacher and a chaperone,” she said. “I hope you rot in prison. …You stole something from him that can never be replaced. For that, I will never forgive you.”
Myers himself spoke in court, thanking his family for standing by his side throughout the ordeal, the report continues.
“While I know I can’t change the past, not a day goes by that I wish I could change what I have done,” Mr. Myers said. “No worthy son, no decent brother, should put a family in such a position or ask them to endure such things.”
