Mayor Peter Kelly said a preliminary inquiry into the breakdown of the Harbour Solutions Project is in, but the results are inconclusive.
Kelly initially said he was waiting for contractor input before reading the early draft of a $400,000 forensic audit. However, yesterday Kelly said he had read it and there wasn’t enough data to draw a conclusion.
“At this point the report is inconclusive. If anyone says they know the cause, they’re not being honest with you,” Kelly said. “We need more information.”
Kelly faced criticism over the weekend for holding off on reading the report. He apologized for his poor communication on the issue and said he would strive to do better.
“I have not been doing a great job communicating this issue in the public,” Kelly said. “I always wanted to see the report, I was waiting until I had the full context.”
