Mayor Stephen Mandel officially issued a warning yesterday to landowners who are hoping to strike it rich when it comes to selling their property to make way for critical city projects.
During a council meeting, Mandel suggested the city may have to take a different direction in looking at ways to “circumvent” those “who want to be obstructionists” during allocation negotiations.
“We’ve already allocated a substantial amount of money when land values have gone down,” Mandel said. “The public needs to know that values have come down and people are going to negotiate with them in a manner on a basis of today’s market, not what it was six months or a year ago.”
