The 2004 comedy “Mean Girls” took us back to our dreaded high school days. Whether you were a member of the “plastics” or the “band geeks” many women could identify with Caty Herron’s (played by Lindsay Lohan) difficulty navigating those precious adolescent years. Now add a husband, kids and casseroles and you have next stage of social navigation: “Mean Moms.”

According to Deadline, New Line Cinema has selected director Beth McCarthy-Miller to adapt Rosalind Wiseman’s book, “Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads: Dealing With The Parents, Teachers, Coaches, and Counselors Who Can Make — or Break — Your Child’s Future” into a film.

Wiseman’s 2002 book, “Queen Bees and Wannabes” was the also the inspiration for “Mean Girls.”

The site reports that the film adaption of the “Queen Bee Moms” book will focus on a mother who meets some adult mean girls in the form of suburban moms.

McCarthy-Miller is a veteran comedy director having worked on “Saturday Night Live” for years as well as multiple episodes of the sitcom “30 Rock.” This however, will be her debut directing a feature film.
