Meet Mariah Carey’s maybe fake, definitely hot BF

Mariah Carey recently celebrated her 47th birthday — I’m sorry, 47th anniversary — in Cabo San Lucas. There was sun! There was fun! There were poorly lit Instagram snaps! But more importantly? She spent that time with her “boyfriend,” Bryan Tanaka.

The diva to end all divas confirmed she was dating Tanaka in February after ending her engagement to James Packer in October. But is it real love? Or istheir relationship just a ploy for Mariah’s reality show, “Mariah’s World?” I literally do not know!

If you’re currently like, “Bryan Tanaka? I don’t know him,” you’re not alone. Here are four fast facts about Mariah’s new beau.

At the very least, he is gainfully employed.
Tanaka is chiefly a choreographer slash dancer type. In fact, he and Mimi met back in 2006 when he took the stage as a backup dancer on her Adventures of Mimi tour. Last March, the 33-year-old took to Instagram to describe the life changing experience. “This tour changed my life. I’ll never forget how much I learned from everyone… How many amazing memories we created, crazy times we had, laughter we shared.”

Now, he’s her creative director, which, nepotism much?

He’s been creeping on her for a while.
Tanaka told E! News that he and Carey were meant to be, or whatever. “Something connected with us back in the day and there was just a mutual admiration. She saw something in me that I actually didn’t recognize at first.” Cute, I guess!

And Carey’s ex-fiancé was not a fan.
It’s also worth mentioning that Mimi’s ex-fiancé, James Packer, was apparently filled with a jealous rage over Tanaka — who, to be fair, is definitely younger and hotter. “The Australian billionaire confronted Tanaka after he showed up to Carey’s Las Vegas show despite not being able to perform due to an injury,” TMZreports. “Packer allegedly banned the dancer from the Caesars Palace show.”

He takes lap dances very seriously.
MC once gave Tanaka an onstage lap dance to uh, “help” said injury. As expected, the experience filled Tanaka with unbridled joy. “That moment when I got to go on stage for a second, it was a special moment in time for Mariah and myself.” I’m sorry, what? Please elaborate, sir. “I felt like no one really understood what I was going through and just to get that little extra love from Mariah… I’m not gonna lie it made me feel a lot better.” Modern medicine, am I right?
