Why wrestle a bear when you’re a Bruin?
Mayor Thomas Menino doesn’t seem to like the bet ideas pouring into Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson’s office ahead of the first Stanley Cup Finals game.
Robertson took to Twitter to ask for suggestions, which have ranged from the loser wrestling a bear or shaving his head.
Menino, who spoke at a news conference today on other matters, had a different idea.
“East Coast versus West Coast seafood faceoff,” Menino said, issuing his bet.
Although his wager was tamer than the ideas of the Canucks fans, Menino didn’t shy away from the trash talk.
“Maybe they have not had any bets before in Vancouver,” Menino said, mocking the ideas. “We’ve had championship basketball, baseball and football teams.”
The bet is not yet official, as the two mayors are currently working out the finer details.
