Mercury to rise in city this week

After a month of depressing “June-uary” clouds, it looks like summer’s heat is finally upon us.

The temperature is going to steadily climb this week, tipping the 30-degree mark in Vancouver on Thursday and Friday, according to Environment Canada meteorologist Cindy Wu. The average at YVR for this time of year is a high of 21 C.

“By definition, if you’re inland, you can call it a heat wave,” said Wu.

“Hopefully … we will see more (of this) for the rest of the summer.”
