There are similarities between the two councillors now in the mayor’s race, but the biggest difference is their approach to the city’s rapid transit plan.
“I am … a strong supporter of this major initiative,” said Alex Cullen, registered in January.
“Clive (Doucet is) a vigorous opponent, as he favours the previous north-south plan.”
Still, Doucet’s will poses a challenge for Cullen, said leading mayoral contender Jim Watson.
“Obviously, they come from the same political spectrum, but with 14 people in the race, it boils down to who can get their message out in the most … effective way,” said Watson.
