Metal meltdown heading for town

Edmonton will be in an uproar this coming Tuesday, with a rock lineup that will have music fans salivating.

Avenged Sevenfold is one of the co-headliners for the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, in a stacked lineup including the other co-headliner Disturbed; Stone Sour; Hellyeah; Halestorm; and more.

Avenged Sevenfold emerged with a metal-core sound on its debut Sounding The Seventh Trumpet, but changed its style on its third album and first major label release, City of Evil, which features more melodic vocals and power ballads.

The band continued to explore new sounds with its self-titled release and enjoyed continued mainstream success before its drummer, James Sullivan, died of a drug overdose in 2009.

Despite his death, the band continued on and released its fifth album, Nightmare, earlier this year.

To date, Avenged Sevenfold has released five studio albums and 15 singles.

The Uproar Festival hits Rexall Place Tuesday.
