The fifth Metro Photo Challenge, launched today, once again gives local photographers the chance to showcase their work against thousands of others from around the world.
The Photo Challenge will accept entries through Metrophotochallenge.com until Nov. 20.
This year there are four themes for entries: environment, relationships, moments of my life and imagination.
This year Metro is, under the Imagination category, inviting entries of images that have been manipulated digitally or are collages in addition to traditional photos.
In the categories of environment, relationships, moments from my life and imagination, there will be eight winners — four chosen by Metro’s panel of judges and four by people liking the entries on Facebook.
The eight local winners from Boston will then go head to head with local winners from every other Metro city around the world.
A panel of judges will then pick a global winner in each of the four categories. These Global Winners will be announced Dec. 20, and the winners will each win a trip worth 1,000 Euros ($1,380) to any city where Metro publishes (the full list is available at www.metro.lu).
A separate category is Photo of the Day. A winning Photo of the Day will be selected every publishing day during the six weeks of the Metro Photo Challenge.
The theme of the Photo of the Day will be announced each day in the Metro newspaper, or by logging on to the Metro Photo Challenge page on Facebook. Today’s theme is Movement.
