Metro transit buses crash on icy roads

Icy roads caused two major accidents involving Metro Transit buses yesterday.

At 7:15 a.m., a car slid into a snowbank along Parkland Avenue near Castlegrove Park. A bus driver following the car hit the brakes to avoid the car, and ended up in the snowbank as well, said Halifax Regional Police Const. Jeff Carr.

Five more cars then ended up hitting the snowbank or the bus.

Just before that, at 6:15 a.m., two buses slid into each other on Dunbrack Street at Willett Avenue. Both had to be towed.

No one was seriously hurt in either accident.
