The last few months have been something like a torturous wait for New York Mets fans and top prospect Amed Rosario.

A promising shortstop that is tearing it up in triple-A, most people that have seen a baseball game or two can quickly deduce that the 21-year-old is ready to make the jump to the majors.

In 88 games with Las Vegas, he is hitting .329 with seven home runs, 55 RBI and 17 stolen bases. However, the Mets looked to have been finding ways to keep Rosario down in the minors despite the team’s struggles.

It looks like that wait could be over, though.

According to FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman, Rosario could be called up within the next week, most likely after the league’s trade deadline passes on Monday.

The Mets will likely be sellers, which includes infielder Asdrubal Cabrera who started the year at shortstop but has since been forcibly moved around, much to his dismay.

With that perspective space needing to be filled, Rosario should finally get his opportunity to unleash his game on the big leagues. He is currently ranked as the league’s second-best minor-league prospect by MLB Pipeline

New York will have to closely monitor Rosario’s health, though. He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday due to prolonged stomach issues.
