Middlesex DA opens investigation after police find a woman’s body on side of road in Westford

The body of a woman has been found on the side of the road in Westford on Saturday, according to WCVB, prompting an investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

The unidentified woman was discovered when police where called to the area of 104 Providence Road at 11:41 a.m.

The case in under investigation due to the suspicious manner in which the woman was found.

Both the location of the body and how the woman was dressed alerted the DA to possible foul play.

“This is being investigated as a suspicious death based on the location and that the female was not dressed in appropriate clothing for the cold temperatures,” Middlesex District Attorney spokeswoman Meghan Kelly in a statement.

“At this time we are actively investigating the circumstances of this death and a determination as to whether there has been any foul play has not been made at this time.”

Per the Lowell Sun, the identity of the woman, who was discovered by a resident on Providence Road, has yet to be determined.

Westford neighborhood concerned over discovery of woman’s body

According to the resident, who spoke with The Sun, a member of his household confirmed the woman was dead upon discovery and frozen in the snow.

Other neighbors on the dead end road became aware and concerned of the situation after both the Westford Police and state police arrived.

“I guess a little weird … just really not expecting it. We live just down the road, so its really something you wouldn’t normally see or expect,” shared one neighbor with CBS Boston.

“I wonder why she was out, especially in a state of undress,” said another neighbor.

“I hope everything gets figured out,” shared another concerned neighbor. “Obviously, it’s a very tragic thing. We don’t know really what’s going on.”
