1. Great poise from the youngster
On the Jets’ third drive, QB Mark Sanchez threw his first interception of the year to Jason Hunter, giving the Broncos great field position at the Jets 33.
Six plays later, Denver seemed poised to take the game’s first lead — but a bad snap caused Britton Colquitt to fumble the hold and turn the ball over. Immediately after getting the ball back, Sanchez completed five straight passes to start the drive, and then capped it all off with a beautiful 32-yard strike to Braylon Edwards. Great poise.
2. Taking the air out of Denver
The Broncos entered Week 6 with the second-best passing offense in the league. But a Jets secondary that struggled throughout this season did a good job of bending and not breaking.
QB Kyle Orton was averaging more than 330 yards per game through the first five games of the season, but was limited to 209 yards by a stout Jets defense yesterday.
3. No quit in this team
Twice in the game, Denver took the lead. Each time, the Jets found a way to answer, whether it was a 56-yard field goal by Nick Folk in the third quarter or a LaDainian Tomlinson 20-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to even the score at 17.
Using a 43-yard interference call inside two minutes, the Jets’ final drive ended with a short Tomlinson rumble into the end zone for the go-ahead score. New York won ugly, rather than packing it in.
