Don’t expect Mindy Lahiri to grow up too much on “The Mindy Project” now that she’s having a baby. “We feel like people don’t change,” said her portrayer, Mindy Kaling, at the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association press tour Sunday. “We always say that the character can only change 5 percent at a time.”

While having the baby may bring out a protective side in Mindy, she’ll also be interested in her baby’s future as a baby model. And for anyone who wondered how a pair of OB/GYN doctors had an accidental pregnancy, that was part of the point.

“We always thought it was funny that an OB-GYNwould have an accidental pregnancy,” explained Kaling. “Episodes about what to do with the baby have brought out really funny sides of Mindy and Danny [Chris Messina].”

Matt Warburton, the show’s other executive producer, said, “OBs are like the Republican party: They only care about the baby until it pops out.”

The show has moved to Hulu for its fourth season after Fox passed on renewing it, but don’t expect it to change too much. Well, maybe there will be one or two changes.

“Full penetrative sex. To open and close the episode,” promised Ike Barinholtz, who plays nurse Morgan Tookers.

“They promised me sex,” added Beth Grant, who plays Beverly.

More seriously, the longer season order that Hulu opted for is giving the creative team more freedom. “The show can breathe a little bit more, especially with the ensemble that we have,” said Warburton.

In the meantime, expect a “Sliding Doors” homage in the fourth season, where Mindy imagines how her life would have gone if she hadn’t gotten together with Danny. Joseph Gordon Levitt guest stars as her husband in that alternate future, as a reality show producer who seems like he’d be the perfect match for Mindy. Danny also does pretty well for himself — he’s with actress Freida Pinto in this alternate future. And while we don’t want to spoil any of the jokes they teasedfromthe episode, we will share the oneBarinholtz claims Kaling rejected.

He wanted to have Mindy say to Pinto, “It’s funny that you’re Freida Pinto, because I have a Pinterest board about Fritos.” Kaling was none too thrilled about him sharing a rejected joke, but we’re on Barinholtz’s side on this one. That’s just a good joke.
