Missing woman’s body identified

Police say they found the body of Sheri Lynn Popowich, missing since Saturday, in the Westridge Ravine in southwest Edmonton Monday evening.

The 38-year-old disappeared after she left her home on her morning walk around 11 a.m., according to family members.

An autopsy confirmed the body found by police was that of Popowich yesterday afternoon.

Spokesperson Patrycia Thenu said police are treating the death as suspicious and homicide detectives are on the case.

“When a death is suspicious, it’s typically investigated by our homicide detectives,”? Thenu said.

According to police, the family had been concerned for Popowich’s safety after her disappearance because of ongoing health issues.
