The Colts were betting darlings early in the season but the results have been ugly as of late.

Indianapolis has lost five of its last six games, straight-up, and has stumbled to 6-5-2 against the spread on the season. New Orleans, meanwhile, is now 8-5-0 ATS on the year.

The spread is quite high here in favor of the Saints as they’re currently favored by nine points. But a 10-point win at home seems about right in this spot.

New Orleans solidified its status as an elite team last Sunday at the SuperDome despite a loss as they went up and down the field against San Francisco.

The Saints’ defense will want to show it is still for real after getting torched by Jimmy Garoppolo, while Saints QB Drew Brees will look to build on his best performance of the season. Against San Fran’s excellent defense, Brees had no troubles as he threw for 349 yards, five touchdowns and zero picks.

Many did not believe Brees still had those type of performances in him, but he proved his doubters wrong in Week 14.

It should now be easy pickings for Brees this week against the Colts’ 22nd ranked pass defense.

Meanwhile, the Colts’ offense could again be without star receiver TY Hilton, who is nursing a calf injury. Indy has a top offense when Hilton is healthy and in the lineup, but unfortunately for the Colts the WR has been banged up for the brunt of the 2019 season. After posting five 100-plus yard receiving days last season, Hilton hasn’t broken the century mark once in 2019.

In terms of “who needs this game more,” which is a great angle to look at when wagering on games this time of year, the Colts absolutely need this game if they are to sneak into the AFC playoffs. At 6-7, Indy is looking up at both the Titans and Texans in the division.

The Saints should be properly motivated to win this game as well, though, as they would love to grab one of the top 2 seeds in the NFC and avoid playing on wild card weekend.

Simply put, the Saints and Colts are headed in opposite directions and New Orleans should be able to cover the large spread at home in the dome.
