Plenty of romance at these intimate Valentine's Day spots

Uvauvanyc.com

If you're still looking for a romantic option to impress your sweetie, I have a few more ideas. These gems are perfect for a quiet date on Valentine's Day weekend, with plenty of romance and great attention to detail.

La Lanterna di Vittorio

Nothing says romance like a roaring fireplace, and La Laterna has two. The indoor greenhouse garden is perfectly quaint. The casual menu is reasonable with a large selection of thin crust pizzas and paninis with homemade focaccia. For Valentine's Day they are offering a $50 per person menu that includes their delicious lasagna, soup, salad, dessert and a cocktail. Their Bar Next Door, which is downstairs, also has live music after 6 p.m.129 MacDougal St.

This small romantic Italian restaurant delivers outstanding homemade pastas. I usually start with the burrata and the veal meatballs, followed by either the gnocchi or the cavatelli with pesto. Definitely make a reservation as they do attract crowds. The back room offers a greenhouse-like vibe with dim lighting, although the brick-lined ding room is equally charming. Join them on Meatball Mondays for a $32 prix-fixe extravaganza. 1486 Second Ave.

Lavagna

Cozy and inviting, Lavagna's fresh menu never disappoints. The staff is very friendly and are willing to answer any questions or make suggestions. The best deal is to dine between 6 and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday or 5 to 7 p.m. on Sundays. They offer a $35 prix-fixe menu that includes three courses. The monkfish and any pasta special is worth trying. 545 E. Fifth St.
