The scariest Halloween costume at Gillette Stadium on Sunday might be Randy Moss wearing a Minnesota Vikings uniform.
The All-Pro wideout is still a weapon — with 12 catches and two TDs in three games since being traded, he’s all but certain to cause trouble for the Patriots’ secondary.
But as the Pats ride a four-game winning streak, the Vikings are scuffling along at 2-4 overall.
“There’s still a lot of football left,” quarterback Tom Brady said. “Who knows at this point whether it’s worked out for whatever team.
“Hopefully [Moss] is happy. He’s an opponent this week so it will make me very happy to beat him this week. I know that.”
Moss spent more than three seasons with the Patriots, catching 50 TDs along the way. By most accounts, he was well liked by his teammates.
Those relationships will take a back seat Sunday.
“We’re all professionals, so you have to separate the business from the personal side,” cornerback Kyle Arrington said. “We’re all friends and I’m sure we’ll all, before the game, shoot the breeze, and after the game wish each other best of luck and keep in touch … But when we’re on the field, and between those 60 minutes, it’s all business.”
New England is sure to know Moss’ game well. It’s hard to say, though, whether that will help a pass defense that’s given up 282 yards a game.
“He’s the same player,” coach Bill Belichick said. “We’ve worked against him. We obviously have a good knowledge of him. He knows a lot more. We know one guy. He knows all of us. I don’t know if there’s a big advantage there.
“When you practice against somebody, I don’t think there’s any better preparation than that; … actually going up against them.”
Favre may, may not play vs. Pats
It’s been a rough month for Brett Favre.
The Minnesota Vikings QB is embroiled in a sexting scandal dating back to his days with the Jets, and is throwing interceptions at a truly prodigious rate.
To cap it off, the 41-year-old suffered two fractures in his left ankle Sunday against Green Bay.
But while Favre doesn’t plan to take part in a full practice this week, he won’t rule himself out of the game at New England.
