Mount Ida College

“Graduate education is a necessity to succeed in today’s job market,” said Sharon McKechnie, Dean of Graduate Studies at Mount Ida College. “Mount Ida College is a century-old institution at the forefront of career-based education, providing each student with the tools needed to achieve lifetime goals after graduation.”

Dean McKechnie oversees Mount Ida’s master’s degree programs in management, healthcare management, human resource management, leadership in sport, and interior architecture.

When asked why students choose to study at Mount Ida, she attributed it to the college’s small class sizes, coupled with a strong sense of community, individualized attention, and flexibility. “Our graduate programs are designed for busy working adults. This is why we offer a hybrid model, where students take courses on our beautiful Newton campus and online.”

Dean McKechnie also emphasized the importance of learning from industry experts. “It’s not enough to just learn theory. Our students learn from professors with hands-on experience. Take Phyllis Baron, for example. She was a Senior Vice President at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts for 13 years.”

At Mount Ida, she adds, “we are dedicated to providing the best possible education for career success.”
