Mountie accused of lying

A lawyer cross-examining the Mountie who stunned Robert Dziekanski accused him of lying under oath and collaborating with other officers to fabricate a story that would justify using the Taser.

Lawyer Don Rosenbloom, representing the Polish government, cites the contrast between the officers’ similar statements and the video of Dziekanski getting shocked as evidence of the cover-up.

“You’re trained observers. Why is there similar mistakes made by you and your fellow officers,” Rosenbloom asked.

“I don’t know,” RCMP Const. Kwesi Millington answered. “I don’t know why.”

Rosenbloom went on to say that the officer had broken protocol on his response to Dziekanski’s failing health.

Asking Millington what steps he took to prepare Dziekanski for CPR, Millington said he asked RCMP Cpl. Benjamin Robinson about the pulse, but nothing else.

“You never took his pulse, never saw anybody do anything,” Rosenbloom said.

Zofia Cisowski, Dziekanski’s mother, was upset after the testimony.

“I think they are liars, I’m so angry,” she said.

But Ravi Hira, the lawyer representing Millington, said his client did the right thing.

“Those officers are telling the truth, they acted according to their training.”
