MTA employees accused of operating copper ring

More than a dozen MTA employees reportedly arrived at the Nassau County District Attorney’s office today, turning themselves in for an alleged copper ring.

According to the Daily News, the 15 workers allegedly stole copper wiring from their work sites, selling it for a profit.

They arrived at the Mineola office this morning with lawyers and two alleged co-conspirators, according to the newspaper.

Copper has become increasingly valuable in recent years.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice will address the allegations at a press conference this afternoon, alongside LIRR President Helena Williams and MTA Inspector Barry Kluger.
