Murder clues come trickling in

Several Mulgrave Park residents are coming forward to police with tips on the murder of 21-year-old Donald Jermaine Stevenson.

A man wearing a skull mask entered the house and shot Stevenson in front of two family members on Saturday night.

Two officers were dedicated to Mulgrave Park after the July murder of 21-year-old Ryan Matthew White. A police office is soon to open, which furthers the relationship between police and the community, said Const. Brian Palmeter.

“We have to realize this person was somebody’s son, friend and relative. I think people are starting to see they have a part to play in this and they need to come forward and help us to bring justice not only to the victim, but his family as well.”

The community held a meeting last summer to discuss crime after White’s murder. But this time, North End Coun. Jerry Blumenthal said he didn’t receive a single call from any concerned Mulgrave Park residents.

“They’ve got a fantastic residents’ association and they just need the people to back them up to try to get more programs to get things done. Unless people are going to say what’s going on, it’s very difficult.”
