My Walk In Her Shoes Challenge training story

I began my training for CARE’s Walk in Her Shoes week of walking with a girlfriend named Marcy. It’s always so much more fun to have a walking buddy and we are both blessed to be walking at sunrise, on the Pink Sand Beaches of Harbour Island, Bahamas, where I am holding my first 321 Fit Retreat .

At times we walk in the soft sand – a great way to include some interval training with added resistance. Marcy knows all about the benefits of walking for good heart health, since she had open heart surgery several years ago. Marcy maintains a comfortable pace and notes her pedometer reading after an hour walk each morning which averages 8,000 steps. Feeling invigorated at the end of the walk, we both feel ready to tackle the rest of the day.
