(The Sports Xchange) – The Minnesota Wild’s victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday was costly.
Forward Charlie Coyle is expected to miss six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a right fibula fracture, the team announced Friday.
Fellow forwards Marcus Foligno and Nino Niederreiter will also miss time due to injuries sustained in Thursday’s 5-2 win for the Wild (1-1-1).
The 25-year-old Coyle, who was placed on long-term injured reserve, has two assists in three games this season.
Niederreiter was also placed on injured reserve and is expected to miss at least three weeks with a high left ankle sprain.
Foligno, 26, will be sidelined at least one week after sustaining a left facial fracture that will require a procedure Sunday.

The St. Louis Blues assigned forward Tage Thompson to the San Antonio Rampage and recalled forward Sammy Blais from their American Hockey League affiliate.
Thompson, 19, played in four games with the Blues this season, including his NHL debut on Oct. 7 in Pittsburgh. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound Thompson was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round (26th overall) of the 2016 NHL draft.
Blais, 21, appeared in two games for the Rampage this season, posting three goals and an assist. The 5-10, 205-pound Blais was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round in 2014.

The Florida Panthers assigned forward Denis Malgin to the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL.
Malgin, 20, recorded one goal and two assists in three games with the Panthers during the preseason.
In 2016-17, the native of Olten, Switzerland, appeared in 47 games with Florida, totaling 10 points (six goals, four assists). Malgin played in 15 games with Springfield last season and posted 12 points (three goals, nine assists).
The 5-foot-9, 177-pound Malgin was originally selected by the Panthers in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL draft.
