Nautical suite living

The lake and nature was the inspiration for the navy blue and white, luxurious, nautical suites in Monarch Corporation’s Waterscapes at Waterview condominiums in Etobicoke.

“Nature is the strongest feature in the area,” says Carmen Dragomir, co-designer and owner of Esqape Design. “We wanted to be influenced by it and wanted to emphasize it.”

The suite, designed by Jennifer De Sousa and Dragomir, encompasses a minimalistic approach that’s stylish, yet comfortable.

It features white as the dominant background, which was chosen to soothe and make the design appeal to everyone.

“It allows your imagination to flow freely and you can add your personal touch,” says Dragomir. “It’s very easy for them to see how they can add their personal furniture and accessories so they can envision their life in that suite.”

The suite’s kitchen is extensively white with granite countertops and an island with high-gloss white finish for a chic and sleek feel. Stainless steel appliances add accents to the room, while the charcoal-coloured lower cabinets bring contrast.

In the living room, the theme of nature reappears in the mirrors, which capture the reflection of the water and sky in any part of the unit.

While the master bedroom has a subtle touch of glamour, using a wall covering that has glass beads to imitate a waterfall.

This nautical theme adds another reason why the suite’s design applies to anyone, says Dragomir.

“The nautical theme is timeless and so trendy to use at any age,” says Dragomir, who relies on fashion for many of her designs.

The size of suites ranges from 465 to 1,605 square feet with starting prices of $189,990.
