NDP duo remains ‘undaunted’

It only took less than 10 minutes to swear in Alberta’s NDP party yesterday, but its leader says the two-person caucus will continue to fight for families.
Party leader Brian Mason, along with newly elected MLA Rachel Notley, make up Alberta’s NDP opposition after suffering a large defeat from Alberta voters in the March 3 election.
“It’s disappointing, but were undaunted,” said Mason. “We’re going to keep on fighting for the things that we believe in.”
Mason, who will take on 12 portfolios, says he likes the large workload.
He says health care will be at the top of his party’s list, after Conservative Health Minister Ronald Liepert said radical changes are needed in the system.
All 72 Conservative MLAs were sworn into the Legislature Wednesday, a ceremony that took more than an hour.
The nine Alberta Liberal MLAs were sworn in last week.
