Women-only co-working and social spaces are growing in popularity across the country, especially in New York City.

For example, The Wing has expanded to three locations in just two years, including its first Brooklyn space, which launched Feb. 26. And come this summer, women will also have the option of joining another co-working community in the borough when The XX House is slated to open on the top floor of a converted three-story warehouse at 61 N. 11th St. in North Williamsburg.

The XX House was created by Rachel Vestergaard, Allison Rapson and Kassidy Brown, founders of the female-focused creative agency and production studio We Are the XX.

“We are building an elegant space architected for women to thrive on every level, embrace their leadership and amplify their creative prowess,” Vestergaard said in a statement about the 15,479-square-foot spot the women leased this week.

“Williamsburg has been our home base for years, and there is no better neighborhood in the world to launch the headquarters for The XX House,” added Brown.

Slated to open in the third quarter of 2018, The XX House will feature wood floors, 18-foot ceilings, skylights, views of Manhattan and a roof deck.

Membership info for The XX House is forthcoming, but Wendy Maitland, who represented We Are the XX in the deal, told Commercial Observer that “there will be an application process not to be elitist, but to form the culture that is the right fit.”

The culture, Maitland added, will allow men, but membership will only be open to women.

The rest of the vacant warehouse acquired by CW Realty Management will be converted into a “lifestyle-orientated” mixed-use property that will include commercial and retail space.

Corey Horowitz of Lee & Associates, who represented CW Realty, called the deal with The XX House “one of the largest office signings in Williamsburg in many years.”
