New music fest skews young

A new music festival geared towards 19- to 25-year-olds is the first of its kind in Ottawa, said one of the event’s organizers.

“There’s nothing quite like this,” said Chris White of Lysten Music Festival.

Lysten is Swedish for passion. The two-day festival, held at the Ottawa Baseball Stadium on Coventry Road on Saturday and Sunday, will be “a big party for young people” featuring 18 indie rock bands including Hollerado, the Sadies, My Dad vs. Yours, the Weeds, Laurent Bourque, Born Ruffians, Amos the Transparent and more.

There will also be food and youth-friendly attractions, like silkscreen on demand by Ottawa company Organik Graphyx.
