The city unveiled a new “NYC channel” in taxi cabs yesterday, which will include restaurant reviews, recycling tips, information about parks and even hints to find a job.
“The information on the channel and the programming you will see will be PSAs about city services and information about arts and culture,” said Katherine Oliver, commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.
The channel will also feature a survey so cab riders can let the Taxi and Limousine Commission know about their cab experience, such as how long they waited for their cab.
As part of the launch, New Yorkers can audition to appear in an intro video that will play in cabs. From now until Nov. 1, submit a 30-second video audition on nyc.gov, explaining why you should be the “Next Taxi Star.”
