11 Bronx men indicted on attempted murder, conspiracy charges

An unsealed indictment and early morning sweep on Wednesday led to multiple arrests of the alleged member of the Lyman Place Gang in the Bronx.

Eight men believed to belong to the gang were picked up, and another seven are already in custody were charged in the 57-count indictment with counts such as attempted murder, robbery and conspiracy, according to Bronx DA Robert Johnson.

The men, aged 18 to 26, bore monikers such as “Biggs Sip Lukey,” “Herbs,” “Mal Pacino” and “Sal Capone,” the indictment shows.

Police tracked down the alleged gang member through Facebook, which they used to communicate about getting guns and ammunition, targeting rival members of the Crips and covering their tracks.

In December, 11 alleged gang members were arrested after a year-long NYPD investigation found them using Facebook to plan and clean up their crimes. Charges in that roundup included murder, attempted murder and conspiracy.

Attempted murder charges stem from a Dec. 14 shooting in the Bronx. Gang members in the most recent sweep were believed to be responsible for a St. Patrick’s Day assault at a Prospect Avenue deli, where they punched an employee in the face then stole from a cash register, and the early March robbery of a food deliveryman.
