Attention New Yorkers, if you’ve been thirsting for yet another alcohol delivery service in the city, consider your thirst quenched. Amazon has announced it will now deliver alcohol through Prime Now.

The service however is only available to customers who subscribe to Amazon’s premium shopping membership Amazon Prime which offers customers free two-day shipping, as well as access to music and video streaming services.
Amazon however faces a competitive and highly saturated delivery market in New York City.
“Amazon enters a market in Manhattan that already includes liquor stores that offer delivery in their surrounding area and websites and apps like Delivery.com, Drizly, Minibar and Thirstie that aggregate demand from a range of local booze retailers.” Re/Code explained. “A spokeswoman said the selection would include ‘hundreds and hundreds’ of different kinds of alcoholic items.”
The feature arrives just in time for the holiday season when New Yorkers are constantly underestimating how much alcohol they should have bought for their parties.
That sounds like smart business.
