Best pizza in America is in Brooklyn, TripAdvisor announced

TripAdvisor just revealed the best pizza place in America. Lucky for New Yorkers, top place goes to Juliana’s Pizza, a beloved coal-fired pizza joint in Brooklyn.

This pizza spot is right next to the Brooklyn Bridge in Dumbo. Many customers first cross the bridge before coming to this one-story building within the Fulton Ferry Historic District.

This pizza joint only opened three years ago. Yet, the owners were well-known amongst New Yorkers already. Patsy and Carol Grimaldi created the famous Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, also known for its long lines. After selling Grimaldi’s to a customer, the store eventually closed. But now, Juliana is back in the same location and customers say luckily the food is the same.

The name Juliana comes from Pasty’s mother, Juliana, who was born in Melfi, Italy. Patsy’s family has also been in the New York pizza scene for decades. His uncle Pasquale, who went by Patsy, founded the famous Patsy’s Pizzeria in East Harlem.

TripAdvisor based their selections on the quantity and quality of the reviews, which had to include “Best Pizza” in at least 10 percent of them. Two other New York joints made the top ten list: Keste and John’s Pizzeria.

Some reviews from the last month:

Asyem Duyga from Instanbul commented on Tripadvisor, “the dough is thin, crispy on the edges and extremely delicious. (can’t control my saliva…himmm…really mouth watering).”

Yohana Kristanti from Jakarta wrote “visited this restaurant right after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. Based on the number of people waiting outside, you can already tell that the pizza must be that good.”

Kim Roberts from Boston said, “very authentic Italian as well as a very friendly staff. Can’t WAIT to visit Brooklyn again and run as fast as I can over to Juliana’s.”
