A car struck and killed an 83-year-old Spring Creek Towers man as he tried to cross busy Pennsylvania Ave., the main thoroughfare running through the Brooklyn housing development that was formerly called Starrett City.
Isaak Trakhtenberg, 83, was on the center median across from HSBC bank at 1330 Pennsylvania Ave. and when he stepped into the southbound lane, he was hit by a 2012 Ford Mustang, police said.
He died later at Brookdale Medical Center. The 27-year-old driver stayed at the scene. Police are investigating, and have not charged the man.
