When the weather is sunny and warm, you don’t have to stay up late to hear great music; it seems to be around every corner. Don’t be a hero — get up from your desk and head outdoors to hear great tunes with your lunch this summer.

Lincoln Square

Every Wednesday from July 6 through the end of August, get out into the great weather for music in Lincoln Square. TheFree Lunchtime Summer Concert Seriestakes place from 12-2 p.m. in Richard Tucker Park (66th Street and Broadway), with the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District and Music Under New York bringing artists from genres spanning reggae, beatboxing and blues. After the music, get a boost for the rest of your day at a yoga stretch session and free snacks from Whole Foods.

Bryant Park

Take a musical interlude atBroadway in Bryant Park, which returns from July 7-Aug. 11. Sponsored by 106.7 Lite FM, the Thursday performances bring the casts of Broadway’s biggest productions to perform their showstopping numbers from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Each day brings between three and four performances; catch “Fiddler on the Roof” (July 21) and “Phantom of the Opera” (Aug. 11) for free from seats on the lawn.

Union Square

Throughout the warmer months,Summer in the Squarebrings everything from exercise classes to dance performances to Union Square. (Oh, and the Greenmarket also gets down with amonthly beer garden.) Take your lunch to the west side of the park at 16th Street on Thursdays through Aug. 11 for lunchtime performances byThe New School for Jazzfrom noon to 1:30 p.m.

Midtown

Grand Central is known for buskers, but during the summer it’s the neighborhood around the station that will be full of music, from big band jazz to salsa. On Thursdays through Aug. 25 from 12:30-1:45 p.m.Jazz on the Plaza(601 Lexington Ave. at 53rd Street) brings acts like Willie Martinez’s La Familia Sextet (July 7) and Miho Hazama Jazz Ensemble (Aug. 4).Cool Music for Warm Summer Days(345 Park Ave. at 51st Street) takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 30 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.; don’t miss Swingadelic (July 7) and Steve Magilo’s tribute to Frank Sinatra (July 21).

Madison Square Park

Around the Park @ Lunchis an occasional series, so check their website for upcoming artists. On deck on Wednesday, July 13 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. is Found Sound Nation’sStreet Studio Cityproject, in which DJs and musicians manned mobile recording studios and asked ordinary New Yorkers to stop and share their voice or play an instrument.
