It's just another game for Darrelle Revis this Sunday as the now-Patriots cornerback returns to face the Jets in the Meadowlands, the place where he played his first six years in the league.
Sunday will represent Revis' third time playing the Jets since he was traded in 2013, but this one perhaps carries a bit more significance for the player and the organization. Last offseason, the Jets traded Revis to the Buccaneers, a trade that, in part, netted a first round pick in Sheldon Richardson. Revis played the Jets in the 2013 season opener, his first game back following season-ending knee surgery in 2012. When Revis was cut by Tampa Bay this past spring, it seemed like a return to MetLife Stadium was imminent.
“I’ll probably just approach [Sunday's game] like I did when I played with Tampa last year, just treat it like another game,” Revis said.

The Jets didn't flinch when their former player showed interest in returning this offseason and never offered a contract to Revis, who reportedly wanted a reunion with head coach Rex Ryan. One can only imagine how Revis could have helped a 3-11 Jets team, whose Achilles heel this season has been their secondary.
Revis has 43 tackles and two interceptions this year with New England and since the knee injury, has made 30 straight appearances.
As for the Jets team that shipped him to Tampa Bay, they are the polar opposite of a Patriots team thatRevis is now an integral part of. New York sits at the bottom of the division and Ryan appears destined to be fired after six years in New York with the Jets. Ryan's never had a winning season with the Jets without Revis on his roster.
“I mean I’m really not trying to pay attention to that. I’m really not,” Revis said on Wednesday. “Like I said, me and Rex have a lot of history and we all know that. Some of those guys are dear to my heart and everything, but like I said, I’ve got to focus on the things that I am doing here and I wish Rex the best.”
