Dylan’s Candy Bar debuts 3D-printed gummy treats

It looks like we’re one step closer to making Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory a reality.

On Monday night, Dylan’s Candy Bar celebrated the arrival of Katjes Magic Candy Factory, the world’s first 3D candy printer, at its New York flagship store. The printer allows customers to create custom gummy treats in under five minutes. These all-natural, vegan gummies are gluten- and dairy-free, says Dylan Lauren, founder of Dylan’s Candy Bar.

Here’s how it works: You can choose from a collection of pre-set designs or customize your own by uploading an image or drawing using the store’s tablet computers. The candy comes in eight different fruit flavors, such as Marvelous Mango and Sublime Strawberry. Once you’ve finished your design and chosen a flavor, you can pick a “magic dust” coating to give your treat a shiny finish.

The process takes about 10 minutes, and each treat will cost you a flat rate of $20. The customizable gummies will soon be available at all Dylan’s Candy Bar locations, as well as online.
