A 74-year-old Bronx man lost his life Sunday afternoon after he allegedly got into a fight with one of his neighbors over an elevator.

On April 24 at about 3:08 p.m. police responded to a 911 call of a man assaulted at 2824 University Ave., according to police. Upon arriving, officers found Felix Rodriguez unconscious and unresponsive lying on the floor of the elevator inside the building.

Emergency personnel took Rodriguez to Allen Pavilion Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the New York Daily News, Rodriguez had fought over holding an elevator door open with his neighbor 57-year-old Joaquin Feliciano. It wasn’t clear who had been holding the door open but police said the elderly man got angry and punched Feliciano.

Feliciano then fought back, the Daily News reported. The 57-year-old later allegedly told police “I f- – – -d him up.”

Police arrested Feliciano early Monday morning and have charged him with manslaughter, authorities said.
