After a year of speculation, Chipotle will open its first location in the South Bronx by the end of the year, company spokeswoman Danielle Mooreconfirmed to DNAinfowithout giving a specific opening date.
The eatery will be located a few blocks from Yankee Stadium at 260 E. 161st St. in The Melrose Building across from the Bronx County Hall of Justice.
The addition of Chipotle to the area, which will be housed in the same building as a recently opened Starbucks, will “inch us closer to being recognized as a place that can support more dining options, more eating options,” Cary Goodman of the 161st Street Business Improvement District told DNAinfo.
