Food delivery apps UberEATS and Maple hit New York today

Car service app Uber and Momofuku mogul David Chang have each launched food delivery servicestoday in New York: UberEATS, which is built into the Uber app, and Maple, a new app.

Both services promise restaurant-quality food for reasonable prices; UberEATS dishes range between $9 and $13 (lunch, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.), and Maple dishes will cost $12 for lunch and $15 for dinner. Uber promises your food within 10 minutes – much faster than most options you’ll see on Seamless – and Maple guarantees your meal within half an hour.

UberEATS charges $4 flat for delivery, regardless of the number of orders – perfect for a big office order. Maple’s delivery fees are built into the cost of the meals.

UberEATS will feature two dishes a day from popular restaurants around the city, like Scarpetta and Mighty Quinn’s. Maple, on the other hand, sells its own dishes – according to its websites, the dishes are made with “seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients that taste superior to other delivery options” – and it has Chief Culinary Officer David Chang’s stamp of approval.

What’s on the menu for launch day?

UberEATS will serve dishes from NYC Cut — you can order the NYC Cut Sandwich (a steak sandwich) or Spring in a Bowl (a salad with beets, greens and radishes).

Maple, which currently only serves customers located below Chambers Street, offers Spicy Shrimp Stew, Roasted Beet and Avocado Salad and Flank Steak Tacos today for lunch. Other items this week will include green chile enchilada with radish and lime salad, pepper-crusted heritage pork tenderloin, baked artic char and moroccon spiced chicken. Lunch options come with one side, and dinner comes with two.

Here’s what’s on the menu for UberEATS for the rest of the week:

Num Pang – Steak Sandwich
Scarpetta – Roasted Beet Salad

Thursday
sweetgreen – Kale Caesar Salad
Mighty Quinn’s – Brisket Sandwich and Beans
