Two of what were already some of the hottest tables in town just got harder to get after Food&Wine Magazine named Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske at Contra and Wildair two of its Best New Chefs for 2016.

The pair gave the then-fledgling natural wine movement a big boost back in 2013 when Contra opened, with a democratizing tasting menu that put a memorable fine-dining night out in reach of most regular diners. Nowadays, the restaurant is known as much for showcasing other world-class chefs as their own cooking.

Their neighboring venture, Wildair, is the rowdier younger sibling that parties to the tune of sub-$20 small plates, but it’s certainly no slouch: The restaurant is vying for the distinction of Best New Restaurant at the James Beard Awards this year.
