Get to these waterfront restaurants to enjoy the best of late summer

There will come a time when the wind coming off the rivers and harbors of New York City will turn from a friendly breeze into a bone-chilling blast. Happily, those days are still a way off, with plenty of time left to enjoy all of these best-in-summer spots.

La Marina Cafe (348 Dyckman St., Washington Heights) is a magical place to enjoy lunch, dinner or brunch. Whether you’re here to watch the sunset, spend the whole afternoon or dance the night away, it’s among the most stunning waterfront options in the city. Located right beside the George Washington Bridge, La Marina’s brunchers have the pleasure of watching kayaks idly cruise by on the Hudson River. The prices and trek are both a bit hefty, but it’s the got the kind of exhilarating view that reminds you why you’re happy to be alive.

It takes a bit of effort to get to Brooklyn Crab (24 Reed St.), but taking the Ikea ferry to Red Hook is worth it. Once you’re in, this is one seafood restaurant that gives you serious bang for your buck. They’ve got a comprehensive beer list, mini golf, an amazing bar atmosphere, cornhole and the best crab and lobster on the planet. Brooklyn Crab is the perfect way to feel like you’ve been transported to a beach town.

During summer, the best way to see Manhattan is from a distance. Views on the outdoor terrace of the extremely romantic River Café (1 Water St., Brooklyn) are all about the Manhattan skyline and New York Harbor. There’s also an indoor water garden. Get their lobster tails with blood orange. They also specialize in oysters and yellowfin tuna. You’ll also probably get a complimentary appetizer or dessert, because they’re classy like that.

Docked at Hudson River Park is Pier 66 Maritime Bar & Grill (207 12th Ave.) The grub is prepared on site, impressive once you find out it’s located on a floating barge. So if you haven’t yet dined on a boat this summer, get here for their full bar and grill, with dishes like crab cakes and beer-braised bratwurst. Just do it.

Pair a stunning waterfront view with mind-blowing eats atThe Bayhouse Bar & Grille(155-57 Bayview Ave., Rosedale). From the fresh shrimp shaker to the Santa Fe steak wrap, flounder sandwich and refreshing margaritas, sitting atop Jamaica Bay and chowing down on an extremely affordable meal is an evening well spent.

After you take a spin on the new underwater-themed carousel, settle in to enjoy the views atBattery Gardens(1 Battery Place). It’s located right next to the harbor, so your dining companion is Lady Liberty. Their drinks won’t completely wreck your bank account, either: Victory Brewing Company pints cost only $5, and pitchers are $16. Their menu, however, is a $75 prix fixe — worth a splurge for a special occasion, just for the view.
